Nalkuma BuraRRwanga
Ranger
Started With Dhimurru:
1993

Background:
My name is Aaron Nalkuma Burarrwanga. I am a Gumatj man and a son of Bajtang Burarrawanga. from Bawaka (Port Bradshaw). I am an Indigenous Protected Area Ranger with Dhimurru.
Role at Dhimurru:
Nalkuma is part of the Ranger team assisting with communication and on ground projects as well as regular patrols.
Comment:

In the beginning when the land was created the yolngu people were there to look after the land and sea. I started work for Dhimurru in 1992. Dhimurru Rangers and yolngu people look after the land and sea together. There are also Sea Rangers and Miyalk Rangers working at Dhimurru. We are always sharing our knowledge and culture with Balanda (non indigenous people) and yolngu people. We all work together caring for our country.

Nalkuma enjoys working with the Dhimurru team and with Yolngu elders. Nalkuma would like to see Dhimurru extend its operations and have a base set up at Port Bradshaw in the future. Nalkuma wants to make sure sea country and the land are being looked after the way the elders say.
