A Baru has recently been sighted along Wirrwawuy.
Dhimurru would like to remind the people living in NE Arnhem Land of the dangers of Baru (Saltwater Crocodiles).
Saltwater Crocodiles inhabit all water environments in this area (rivers, creeks, billabongs, lagoons, beaches and river mouths etc)
Swimming is not recommended and extreme care should be taken near bodies of water, including the coastline, inland waterways, and lagoons. Do not take risks near waterways. Do not dispose of fish carcasses near camping areas or boat launching sites.
Please phone Dhimurru on 8939 2700 or drop into our office to report any Baru sightings or if you have any questions regarding Baru management in the IPA.
