Dhimurru Aboriginal Corporation prides itself on its efforts to provide facilities that will benefit visitors to the recreation areas that we manage on behalf of the Traditional Owners of this country.
Part of this effort has been to install signs indicating the name of an area.
Over that last couple of weeks five of these signs have been removed. Speculation is that someone handy with a power tool has taken them as a souvenir on the way out of town.
Apart from the fact that these signs are very expensive to replace, they perform the important task of informing visitors as to where they are.
Removing them is also disrespectful both to the Traditional Owners and the rest of us that are remaining in town.
The matter has been referred to the Police and we are sure they'd appreciate any help investigating this offence. If you have information please call Dhimurru on 8939 2700, or the Police.
