Learning on Country (LOC)
LOC connects students and community members with the land and sea through hands-on experiences guided by traditional knowledge holders and Dhimurru rangers.
Educational goals
The program promotes understanding of Yolŋu culture via a two-way learning approach in terms of language and sustainable land and sea management practices.
Cultural immersion
Participants engage in activities like storytelling, traditional hunting, and learning about native plants and animals.
Community collaboration
LOC partners with local schools and involves Nalapal and community members to ensure cultural knowledge is passed down, this is through workshops and camps.
Environmental stewardship
Participants learn the importance of conserving natural resources and their role in protecting sea country and land.
