MEDIA RELEASE
Nhulunbuy, NT — May 1, 2026
Dhimurru Aboriginal Corporation is strengthening its long-term direction in land and sea management, with the Board, Traditional Owners and ranger workforce leading a coordinated approach to building capability on country.
As part of this direction, Dhimurru has invested in equipment and training that support improved access, stronger delivery, and greater independence across our IPA.
The grader will help maintain access roads to cultural sites, recreational areas and key management areas, while also creating training opportunities for rangers to build practical skills on country.
Through our Industry Meets Country approach, rangers are gaining skills that support both conservation work and operational delivery, helping ensure land and sea management remains strong into the future.
This work reflects the responsibility of Yolŋu to care for country and pass knowledge to the next generation.
Mayatili Marika, Co-Chair said:
“Looking after country is our responsibility. Our rangers need to be strong on country, learning and working the right way so they can continue to protect our land and sea.
We are building our strength so we can manage our country ourselves and make sure our young people are ready for the future.”
These actions are not a shift away from Dhimurru’s core purpose, they are strengthening it.
By investing in our people, our skills and our ability to work on country, Dhimurru is building a strong and sustainable future led by Traditional Owners.
